Reading
Have you ever heard of WhizRead?
WhizRead is the app that will provide your students with another experience regarding reading in a second language -English in this case-, a multi-sensory one. The interface of this website is attractive and explains clearly the several options that the children have while using it. For instance, the young learners can choose what and how to read, get pronunication, context and definitions age appropriate and view a related image plus hear a related sound for a given word or phrase. I personally consider that it is a good way to foster reading in our class and present it as something fun and accessible for all.
Consequently, I have created an activity where the students have a free choice of reading, and after using this app to complete the meaning of the words of their text, they will talk about what they have understood and learnt from it. They could even share their stories in groups to other courses of our school and therefore, practise the story-telling as well.
WhizRead will also give tips and educational advice for teachers and parents on how to use it in the most efficient way for their children to take the maximum profit of it.
Take a look or sign in and tell me if it would be a resource that you would also use in your class! :)
